Nancy Browning

Office Administrator

I never planned to work in finance. Growing up as the youngest child and only daughter in an Italian immigrant family in Toronto, I watched my parents instill the value of hard work and careful money management in all of us. My siblings ended up in the business, but I had different plans.

After having my first child, I took a part-time position at a financial firm. When their administrator didn't work out, they offered me the role. Nearly three decades later, I'm still here, and I can't imagine doing anything else.

What keeps me engaged isn't the technical work, though I handle plenty of it. My responsibilities center on making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes: answering calls and emails, scheduling appointments, processing money movements accurately and quickly, and making certain every client concern gets addressed. In an industry where market conditions shift constantly, clients need to know someone is always paying attention. That's where I come in.

Getting to know our clients personally matters more than any transaction. When someone calls with a question or concern, they're not just another account number. I've watched families grow, celebrated milestones with them, and helped them navigate challenges. Knowing I make a tangible difference in their lives drives everything I do.

My Honours Degree from York University gave me a double major in Canadian Literature and Sociology, which might seem unrelated to finance at first glance. But understanding people and communication proves invaluable when you're the first voice clients hear when they reach out. I also hold my Canadian Mutual Fund Certification through CSI.

My husband Mark and I have been married over 28 years and raised four children, who are now scattered across the country. Three live on the West Coast in BC, and one remains in Ontario. My air miles account grows steadily as I visit as often as possible. We also have seven grand babies, all with four paws and a tail. My family has always supported my career, and having a working mom never slowed anyone down.

These days I live just outside Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia with Mark, our dog, and our expanding cat family. Traffic doesn't exist here, neighbors help without being asked, and the Bay of Fundy offers stunning views. The Nor'Eastern winds can be brutal, but that's part of living near the ocean.
